Mini-GPS2 Notes and Updates
Satellite Status Update Lockup Fixed
It was a known error that, on occasion, a Canopy radio would not display the satellite information after an extended period of time. A known fix for this error was to remove all of the timing cables and then reconnect them one at a time. This problem has been remedied and adapted to all boards sold as Septemeber 1, 2006. The new board requires that a Canopy timing cable be inserted in the first (Master port). See the Mini-GPS2 User Guide for more information. The documentation under the lid of the Mini-GPS2 enclosure is another method of determining the board version.
GPS Antenna Update
In early 2006, the GPS department of Motorola was bought out by Sirf Technologies and the Motorola Timing 2000 GPS antenna was discontinued. Since that time the Mini-GPS2 has been shipped with a substitute GPS antenna. The Timing 3000 GPS antenna, the replacement for the Timing 2000, in now available and will be shipping with all Mini-GPS2 units effective immediately.
This new antenna has all of the same characteristics of the Timing 2000, including the female N connection. It also has the same form factor and does include the same mounting bracket.
